Hellenic Data Protection Authority

 

The Hellenic Data Protection Authority, which supervises our company, is an independent administrative entity established by Law 2472/1997 and operational since November 1997. Its objective is to supervise the implementation of the above law and other regulations concerning the protection of individuals with regard to processing of personal data, without being subject to any administrative control. In exercising their functions, the Members of the Authority shall enjoy personal and operational independence. The Authority reports to the Ministry of Justice, based in Athens.

 

The Authority shall consist of a judge to a degree of Director of State or an equivalent or more, as Chairman and six members, three of whom are university professors and three persons of high standing and experience in the field of protection of personal data.
As part of its responsibilities, the Authority shall issue instructions to the purpose of a unique application of the rules concerning the protection of individuals with regard to processing of personal data, issue normative acts regulating specific issues related to privacy issues, make recommendations and suggestions to the responsible processing, granting licenses, denounces violations of the law on personal data, impose administrative penalties, carry out checks on its own initiative or on a complaint in every file, advises on privacy issues etc.
